What do the different colors mean for curb / parking – markings in California?

I received a parking ticket in a "yellow" zone and was naturally upset.

I contacted the City – Traffic – PD and FD who all gave me the run around. I am contesting the citation – but need hard evidence that a "yellow" zone is ??? Loading ? Thanks for the help CB

It’s in the DMV handbook:
Yellow – 20 min. limit for Commercial trucks only (must display commercial plates)
Red – Emergency vehicles only or buses
Green – Parking according to posted signs (1 – 3 hours generaly)
Blue – Handicapped
White – Passenger loading / unloading (airports, generally)
